Are you looking for a modern portrait photographer? Allow me to capture your next portrait with a modern feel.

Modern Portrait Photography

The state of photography is constantly changing. New techniques are being born and newer equipment is constantly being released. The definition of a photographer is evolving and you want to ensure you hire a modern portrait photographer who is up-to-date on the latest trends and editing techniques.

As a modern portrait photographer, I ensure I stay up-to-date on modern shooting techniques, all my equipment is modern, and my editing techniques are up-to-date as well using state of the art Adobe software.

Modern Portrait Photography Editing

Being a modern portrait photographer, it is important that I stay up-to-date with my photo retouching and editing techniques. With modern software such as Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop to edit photos in post-production, I ensure you receive photos that are sharp, have perfect exposure, and have well balanced color tones.

I am also certified in modern professional retouching techniques such as dodge and burning and frequency separation. This ensures each portrait photo is cleared up of any unwanted blemishes or marks.

Contemporary Photography

Modern photography can also be categorized as contemporary photography. In other words, photography that has a modern feel and style to it, compared to an image from a decade ago. Modern photography is ever evolving and the styles of photography today could change in 10-20 years. It is important that you have a photographer that stays on top of the latest trends and styles so you can receive great portrait images.

What makes a photograph modern/contemporary exactly? I believe it is the use of modern equipment, modern editing techniques, a modern approach to the shoot, and choosing locations that will help support and help tell the story of the image.

Modern Portrait Photography Locations

Location scouting and picking the right location plays a big part into a modern portrait photography session. It is important to pick a location that helps tell the story of the session. I find the perfect location through location scouting. You provide me with the mood you want to capture on camera, then I help find the location that will best help support that vision while providing professional insight.

Being an Orange County and Los Angeles photographer, I have knowledge and experience shooting in various locations throughout Southern California. Finding the perfect location is a part of the free pre-shoot consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequent questions and answers

What Am I Paying for Exactly?

Location scouting, posing tips, professional photo editing/retouching (color correction, tone adjustments, exposure adjustments, blemish/scar removal, teeth whitening, eye redness reduction, wrinkle/fine line removal), camera handling, my witty banter.

How will I receive the files?

You will receive the edited files within 2 weeks of your session. You will receive all of the files via WeTransfer, which is an easy + free email service. You can then send them to print, forward to your friends + family, and post online!

Download links expire after a few day so be sure to download your images as soon as possible!

Is there a travel fee?

If the location is in Orange County there is no travel fee. If the location is outside of this, there is a small travel fee.

Do I get to select the images?

Part of my job is making the image selects and choosing the most flattering photos. I do not want to deliver images that are repeats, blurry, out of focus, shots of you blinking, or mid-sentence speaking.

I do not withhold any images, I only remove the “bad” ones based on the criteria listed above.

What about time and location?

I suggest blocking out 2 hours for your shoot the time. My timeframes are pretty generous. I usually wrap up earlier if I am able to shoot quickly.

I plan shoots based on one location and its surrounding area. There is a small additional fee for each additional “location.”

Can I Edit the Images?

I ask that my clients do not add filters or crop any of the final edited images. I spend time ensuring the color balance and tones are correct in each image! If you want a particular edit style please let me know before the shoot and I can accommodate since I have experience editing many different styles.

What if I need to cancel?

I ask for a $100 electronic non-refundable deposit to secure your session date + time. If you need to cancel you can put your deposit toward a re-schedule or you can have it refunded.
